Jorge Fucile must leave FC Porto, says agent

Jorge Fucile’s agent claims that his client has done all he can for the club but now must move on to greener pastures, as he hasn’t been able to gather much playing time at Estadio do Dragao lately.

The defender was heavily favoured by Andre Villas-Boas last term but under the reign of Vitor Pereira he has found game time hard to come by. With Maicon being preferred as a right-back and the likes of Danilo and Cristian Săpunaru battling it out for a place in the starting eleven, Jorge Fucile’s time with the Dragons seems to be up.

Cristiano Ronaldo supports Save the Children’s Every One campaign

- The Portugal and Real Madrid footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been appointed as a global ambassador for Save the Children’s Every One campaign. The campaign, which supports the Millennium Development Goals and will run until 2015, has been branded in the UK as No Child Born to Die. Ronaldo was one of several famous footballers who supported an auction held in Dubai at the end of December that raised about £30,000 for Save the Children, the Red Crescent and the Autism Charity. “I’m so proud to support Save the Children,” said Ronaldo. “I’m delighted at the funds raised during tonight’s auction.”
