Benfica beats Leiria to take lead in Portugal

Benfica took sole possession of the Portuguese league lead with a 4-0 rout at Leiria on Sunday, moving two points clear of defending champion FC Porto.

Bruno Cesar opened the scoring for Benfica in the 10th with a shot from outside the area. Striker Oscar Cardozo added the second in the 48th, and Spaniard Rodrigo Moreno capped the win by scoring two late goals in four minutes.

Also on Sunday, it was: Maritimo 2, Olhanense 1; Rio Ave 1, Pacos de Ferreira 0; Gil Vicente 0, Nacional 3; and Guimaraes 1, Feirense 0.

Fourth-place Braga visits Beira Mar on Monday.
