Ronaldo insists he’ll stay at Real Madrid CF despite Man Utd speculation

Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo insists he is enjoying his football at the Bernabeu after being linked with a return to Manchester United.

The 26-year-old was linked with his former club last month, with reports in Spain suggesting he was ready to quit Madrid after being unhappy with the criticism received from fans following the recent 3-1 defeat to Barcelona in El Clasico.

But the Portugual international has attempted to end speculation about his future, insisting: “I do not think about the future, I’m enjoying the moment.”

He added: “In Manchester I learned how to play, especially tactical discipline, but the Spanish league is the best in the world, since it is based on players’ skills and techniques.

“I will not leave Real Madrid. I want to keep having fun here.”

Ronaldo, who left Old Trafford to join Los Blancos in 2009 for a world-record fee of £80million, recently admitted he is still in contact with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Speaking back in September, he had refused to rule out a second spell in the Premier League and had told Sky Sports News of a possible return to England: “I hope so, because I know the league, I know the players, I know the atmosphere.”

Manchester City have also been linked with Ronaldo over the past few months, although the player appears to be loyal to his former club and a move to the blue half of Manchester looks unlikely, despite the cash-rich club being in a stronger position to meet Madrid’s valuation.
