Chelsea Linked with Rekindling Joao Moutinho Interest

Chelsea are considering reviving their interest in FC Porto midfielder Joao Moutinho according to Portuguese daily A Bola.

The Blues have been linked with the 25-year-old previously, with Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas knowing the box-to-box midfielder extremely well from his time coaching the current Europa League holders.

Indeed, Villas-Boas is a popular figure with the Portugal international, having added an extra dimension to his game when Moutinho landed at Porto.

Moutinho joined Porto in 2010, costing 11M euro to sign from domestic rivals Sporting Lisbon in what was a controversial transfer.

Under contract until 2015 and rated as a key member of the Dragons’ side, the former Sporting youth teamer will be difficult for Chelsea to lure away from the Estadio do Dragao; Inter have also previously expressed an interest in the player and could enter the race given any hint Moutinho is available.

Moutinho has picked up 40 caps for Portugal.
